He is therefore more determined than ever to assist De Cock in the investigation behind the scenes of the popular football club. They discover that the victim was about to transfer to a club in England. Could jealousy be a factor, or is there more to it than that? De Cock proves himself to be a skilled referee with a keen eye for detail. Just as calm seems to be returning to Ajax circles, a second death occurs. This time, it appears to be suicide, but De Cock refuses to be deterred.
